Flowers and fine brandies around St. Kathrein
Route length: 13,4 km
Difficulty: Medium
Total rise: 518 m
Road conditions: Paved roads, farm and forest tracks, side roads only
Route description
St. Kathrein am Offenegg is the “Garten Eden”. It is all about flowers, spirits and the heavens! You start out in the centre of St. Kathrein with its striking church. Head out over the “Zeil” to the “spiritual” Edelbrennerei Graf with its speciality, rowan berry brandy. Continue through a forest to the local district of Gschaid. If you choose to omit an excursion up the Eibisberg, you can continue biking with no major hills.
The route also passes the Sulamith Garten, Sissy Sichart’s green paradise at 1,000 m above sea level. Back in the town centre, you should take a walk through the “Duftgarten” with heavenly fragrances, up to the Hotel Eder. That is where the “Schokoladen-Himmel” of television chef and world champion confectioner Eveline Wild awaits you – a paradise for all fans of pralines and chocolate, naturally with samples and the opportunity to shop!
