Loop trail to the Hoher Zetz with splendid views
An interesting hike to the peak of the Hoher Zetz with a magnificent view over eastern Styria all the way to the Pannonian lowlands.
The starting point is St. Kathrein am Offenegg with a wealth of destinations and places to stop for refreshments: outstanding food, tasting delicious pralines in Eveline Wild’s chocolate emporium, exploring Sissy Sichart’s Sulamith Garten or unveiling the secret of Michael Graf’s fine brandies! St. Kathrein is also a member of the “Steirische Blumenstraße” floral region and known for its abundant floral decorations. The Vogelbeer-Wanderweg and Mühlental-Runde run around the community.
At the entrance to the village, you are welcomed by the large Styrian Panther, a work by alpine artist Sascha Exenberger who makes his fanciful sculptures from horseshoes. Five more sculptures are found along the hiking trails.
Start/end: centre of St. Kathrein am Offenegg
Parking: at the centre or by the Kathreinerhaus
Duration: 16,3 km | 5 Std.
Total rise: 530m
