The famous Pilgrimage Church Schüsserlbrunn

The Schüsserlbrunn pilgrimage church has always been a popular excursion destination that can only be reached on foot. This hike starts in Breitenau am Hochlantsch.

The small wooden church of Schüsserlbrunn clings to the Hochlantsch wall. Believers have been making pilgrimages here for centuries, especially to find relief from eye problems. The name of this place is derived from the bowl-shaped indentations in the rocks where the water from the healing spring is collected. The church has been rebuilt several times and was finally moved several meters in 1974 due to an impending rockfall.

Regular services are held in the church between May and October, when the church is also open. Otherwise, the landlord of the “Steirischer Jokl” keeps the church key.
