Spring in the Almenland!
Enjoy spring holidays in Styria
Nature is slowly awakening from its winter slumber, while the last remnants of snow are still melting away on the mountain pastures and making way for colorful crocuses, a variety of different plants are already blooming in the valleys.
A spring holiday in the Almenland Nature Park has a lot to offer. The colorful nature, warming rays of the sun and spring-fresh cuisine are waiting for you - so pack your bags and go on a holiday in Austria fresh from the mountains!
Whether active in sports
- Walking and cycling or at one
- Start your wellness holiday relaxed in spring in Almenland.
- The dandelion festival days follow after Easter
and finally bring the warmth of the sun to the Alm. Here you can switch off from everyday life and enjoy spring in all its splendor in Eastern Styria.
The heart of the Almenland Nature Park is the Teichalm and the Sommeralm, which are perfect for leisurely hikes from one mountain hut to another.
But here you will also find spectacular gorges and water-bearing gorges. The impressive Bärenschützklamm leads from Mixnitz to the Teichalm and on to the highest panoramic mountain in the Grazer Bergland, the Hochlantsch.
The small Schüsserlbrunn pilgrimage church, which was voted the most beautiful Styrian excursion destination in 2018, is located directly on the Hochlantsch rock.
The Raabklamm is Austria's longest gorge and also a Natura 2000 protected area.
This is Blossoming in Eastern Styria, Austria's Garden!
We will see you in Spring!
Yellow-green spring at the Dandelion festival
The dandelion blossom from mid-April is so intense and decisive in the Almenland valleys that the beekeepers offer their own dandelion honey. In the lush yellow-blossoming meadows, gnarled trees with broad branches invite you to enjoy a picnic in their shade. Our innkeepers provide the right culinary offerings, offering light, spring-fresh dishes with lots of herbs at this time of year - to enjoy on site, at a picnic or at home!
The Dandelion Festival, which is celebrated from May 1 to May 11 2025, is a tribute to this versatile plant. During this time, the spring-fresh cuisine at our inns is combined with a colorful array of events. Enjoy this time in the Almenland Nature Park with a few days of vacation and take many experiences home with you!
Traditional easter in Styria!
Don't you also feel like celebrating a really traditional Easter? Hardly any other area is better suited to this than the Almenland Nature Park.
Holy Week begins with the palm consecration in churches, during which the colorful "palm bushes", made from catkins, herbs and colorful ribbons, are consecrated. The Easter liturgy continues with the "Last Supper Mass" on Maundy Thursday, the veneration of the cross with the great intercessory prayer on Good Friday and, as the highlight, the great resurrection celebration on Easter Vigil in numerous churches in the region.
These days are accompanied by regional customs: Ratchet children roam the town, consecrated fires are brought into the houses and on Easter vigil they celebrate happily around the Easter bonfires. The days before Easter are also used to dye Easter eggs and to buy specialties - from ham to Easter bread - from the farmers. The food and drinks are then enjoyed with the great Easter snack, right after the meat consecration on Holy Saturday. And on Easter Sunday everyone is looking forward to the happy search for the hidden Easter nests!
Hiking in the Naturpark Almenland
While everything is already beginning to blossom in the valley, the last remnants of snow from last winter are still melting on the mountain pastures, making way for colorful crocus meadows. The change of season also marks the start of the new hiking season.
The region around the Teichalm and Sommeralm is made for various hikes during your holiday. Enjoy the beautiful landscape and fresh air during a walk or a hike of several hours. Numerous lodges invite you to stop and rest.
The tours with various degrees of difficulty include something for everyone – from an unhurried hike with the family, to climbing one peak after another for the athletically inclined.
