Autumn in the Almenland!
Colorful Autumn in Styria
The Almenland Nature Park is part of the Eastern Styria adventure region and is located in the heart of Styria, just 50 km north of the provincial and cultural capital of Graz. With its 125 contiguous Alpine pastures, the Almenland is one of the largest Alpine pasture areas in Austria.
From camping sites, farm vacations, a room in a guesthouse or inn to three or four-star hotels, you will find a wide range of accommodation in the Almenland.
There is also plenty to experience and discover in autumn, be it cycling through the colorful autumn landscape, hiking with fresh air and clear views, or stopping off at one of our inns after a successful excursion. Under the motto “Tischlein Deck Dich”, a visit to a host in the Culinary Almenland Autumn will help you to enjoy a delightful flight of fancy - with all the good products of the region that the harvest season has to offer.
This is the colorful autumn in the adventure region of Eastern Styria, the garden of Austria!
See you in the fall.
Autumn Time is Hiking Time
Fresh air, rich colors and clear views: autumn is also the most beautiful time for hiking in the Almenland Nature Park! When it gets quieter on the alpine pastures and the farmers gradually bring the cattle back down to the valley, hikers have the alpine pastures to themselves again. And because it is no longer so hot, it is now also possible to tackle longer hikes. The view high up on the summit stretches far out into the countryside because the air is now dry and the view is clear. So it's time for at least a few days' vacation in the Almenland - with hiking, some wellness and the best cuisine!
From October at the latest, dog owners will also be able to enjoy the alpine pastures with their pets without any worries - the alpine pastures will be completely "cattle-free" again!
125 alpine pastures, two large gorges and numerous mountain peaks between Teichalm and Sommeralm are a great offer for all hiking enthusiasts! You will find more than 40 tour suggestions for your vacation in the garden of Austria.
These are our top tips for a hiking experience in the fall:

Culinary Almenland Autumn
Hiking makes you hungry - and “hunger is the best cook”, as the saying goes! But don't worry, you don't have to be hungry to enjoy the food at our inns - just a glance at the menu will whet your appetite. There are fine specialties from ALMO beef, dishes from the regional cuisine and smaller dishes for in between. And, of course, pastries in all their variety, from Kaiserschmarren to Strauben. Especially for “chocolate tigers”, there are the finest chocolates to enjoy with coffee or as a gift to take home.
The ALMO gourmet inns are the culinary flagship of the Almenland Nature Park. Here you will find the best beef cuisine based on regional ALMO beef.
Autumn, with its abundance of produce, is also the time of the Culinary Almenland Autumn, when our innkeepers invite you to fish or game weeks, goose dinners and pre-Christmas gala menus! During the harvest season, tasty dishes are conjured up using seasonal produce from our regional producers. You can take advantage of this delicious offer from mid-September to mid-December.
Relax high above the sea of fog
When the fog settles in the basin and doesn't want to go away, when the sun and light are missing and a winter low is on the horizon, then it's time for a few relaxing days on the alpine pasture. The sun is shining here and the sea of fog is far below. Use this time to get "winter fit" on a gentle holiday - with saunas, massages and food rich in vitamins! And when you are wrapped up in warm blankets in front of the fireplace and look out into the alpine landscape, then even murky autumn days are no longer so bad!
Your well-being is well taken care of at our wellness establishments!
A look at the country
The best view is from above - which is why we have created an interactive 360° panorama map for our guests. Here you can see the whole of the Almenland from above and explore the location of our businesses or plan your entire stay. It's fun and really makes you want to spend a holiday in this beautiful landscape!
