Gentle winter holiday in Styria
When the sun shines over deeply snow-covered alpine pastures, glittering snow and icy streams, the Almenland unfolds its full charm. Then cross-country skiers glide here over the sunniest trails far and wide or skiers swing from the mountain slopes.
Perhaps you will then also unpack your hiking boots or snowshoes and trudge along the winter hiking trails through the snow. Or you can register for a horse-drawn sleigh ride, which is also perfect for romantics.
The Almenland Nature Park is part of Eastern Styria adventure region and is located in the middle of Styria, only 50 km north of the regional and cultural capital of Graz. With its 125 connected alpine pastures, the Almenland is one of the largest alpine pasture areas in Europe.

Children belong in the fresh air!
The small but excellent lifts in the Almenland Nature Park are completely geared towards the needs of families. This is precisely why it is important to our lift operators to make skiing affordable - away from mass tourism. Magic carpets, toboggan runs and fairytale meadows await the enthusiastic young guests, who are also in good hands at the ski schools, which take great care of the little ones on the slopes. Parents are delighted with the manageable size of the facilities, the culinary offerings and, last but not least, the reasonable prices.
The season kicks off with the lively FamilySkiDay on the Teichalm and Sommeralm in December. On this day, children up to the age of 15 can use the lifts free of charge, and there are also many other program items such as free ski water, skidoo rides, a demonstration exercise by the mountain rescue service, race training with the ski club and much more! See you at the Teichalm lifts, the Holzmeister lift and the Pirstingerkogellift!

The sunniest trails far and wide!
Always with far-reaching views of the alpine pastures and past tempting places to stop for refreshments, our cross-country ski trails are among the most popular in the country! The sunny trails between Teichalm and Sommeralm with a total of 29 kilometers, awarded the Styrian cross-country quality seal, are a magnet for both skaters and cross-country skiers who prefer the classic style. Equipment rental and a cross-country skiing course for beginners complete the offer!
Snowshoe and Winter Hiking
Nothing is more relaxing than hiking through the beautiful winter landscape. It's quiet, the snow glistens and the alpine panorama is simply magnificent: a nature experience away from the pistes or cross-country ski trails. The Plankogel Tour or the Heulantsch Tour are ideal for those who are snowshoeing for the first time. Snowshoes can be hired at the Stoakoglhütte on the Sommeralm (start of the Plankogel circuit) or at the Snow Sports School Reisinger (start of the Heulantsch circuit). However, with snowshoes you are not bound to any particular route, you can explore the Teichalm or Sommeralm as you wish!
The guided snowshoe tours with "Abenteuer Management" or the team from "Freinatur Steiermark" are also very special. Those who want a little more excitement can take part in a winter adventure tour, going uphill on snowshoes and downhill on a toboggan!
There are prepped winter hiking trails especially for all hikers who want to take it easy, these are easy to walk on with good footwear. Idyllic walks along the icy streams, through the snow-covered winter landscape and enjoy the fresh, clear air. Then back to the hotel, where the numerous wellness facilities await.

Eastern Styria impresses with its small but beautiful ski resorts with affordable skiing, easily accessible pistes, short and stress-free approaches.
There is also plenty to experience and relax away from the slopes. Excellent cross-country ski trails, winter and snowshoe hikes, toboggan runs, winter wellness and much more await you.
There is a small gift for those who achieve the Winter Needle, which can be collected from the Almenland Nature Park or Joglland-Waldheimat offices.

However, the gentle mountain winter in the Almenland Nature Park is not only beautiful for passionate sports enthusiasts. For those who want to “warm up” in winter, especially above the blanket of fog, the businesses around the Almen offer a wide range of wellness options: immerse yourself in the pleasantly warm hay flower bath, sweat in the Swiss stone pine sauna with a wonderful view over the countryside or relax in the salt grotto.
Such a relaxing wellness vacation can be complemented with a round on the cross-country ski trail and a few hours on the slopes - or not! Either way, an alpine-fresh winter vacation in the Almenland Nature Park is wonderfully relaxing!
