Katerloch flowstone cave

Austria’s most stalactite-rich show cave

Plunge into a subterranean world with a wealth of stalagmites and stalactites. Let metre-tall, delicate limestone candles and sparkling flowstone columns enchant you. Through the 22 m wide and 10 m high entry portal of the Katerloch, you enter the imposing entrance hall with what is called the Atlas. It has a circumference of 46 m and a height of 22 m, making it one of the world’s mightiest tufas. The fantasy hall with a size of 10,000 m² is just as impressive. It holds a veritable forest of stalactites and stalagmites with thousands of fantasy formations.

The Katerloch remains an insiders’ tip since, after being closed for 20 years, viewing the marvels of this show cave has only been possible again since 2004.
