Folk music and theatrical tradition
Mountain pastures and folk music – a completely logical combination for most people. In the Almenland, folk music in the original sense is still very much alive. Mountain hut singers regularly meet here and invite you to sing along, or more or less experienced harmonica players come together at a musicians’ get-together. There are various events where folk dancing is a fixed item on the programme.
In recent years, however, the programme has increasingly included classic and contemporary performances, and the Styrian Chamber Music Festival regularly stops in the Almenland.
In the summer months, in particular, theatre lovers are very well served. The Brandlucken Huab’n Theater performs an Austrian classic every year; in the communities all around, rural folk plays are presented, joined by cabaret groups with their latest programmes.
The Rechberg race has a long tradition, and the Südsteiermark Classic and the Winter Classic also regularly stop in the Almenland. In recent years, electric rallies have also driven through the mountain pastures - soundless and environmentally friendly
